The Highlights of the Major Release macmon NAC 6
Webinar on demand: Using Network Access Control in Industrial Networks
The new version macmon 6 has been released and comes with many significant features. In particular, there are innovations in the operating system and in the web interface (GUI). In this webinar we will introduce you to the new features:
Login page
The new login page offers many advantages.
- It is based on React - an up-to-date, secure and powerful technology that makes the creation of user interfaces more efficient and flexible by simplifying the use of components and interactivity. Pages load faster than before.
- If a SAML ID provider is used for the login, a single sign-on button appears. If there are problems with the SAML provider, the user can perform normal authentication on the same page without SAML.
- The GUI setting "label", if used, is displayed on the login page to show which system you are logging into.
- If the NAC engine is not yet available due to restarts (e.g. after an update) or regular startup, a message is displayed with the normal login background.
- The login screen can still display optional information, such as information on the GDPR.
Context help
The context help is displayed next to the page title to make it clear that it refers to the displayed page. The color of the help symbol is based on the background. It should stand out from the background and page title, but at the same time follow the style line of the user interface and create a coherent image.
Notifications
The new notification field displays messages using a snack bar component. This ensures a more intuitive and secure handling of GUI notifications. All notifications are displayed as a "snack" in the visible area of the GUI at all times. Previously, a notification could be overlooked when working with many data records and long scrolling. In the new version, the notifications are saved in the notification tray. This means that the relevant information can be viewed afterward, even if the page is changed.
Looking to the future: Further information will be available in the notification tray in the future.
App Shell Menu
The new app shell (menu and title bar) was also implemented with React. As a result, the pages load faster than before. Each menu item has been given an icon, which remains even when the menu is minimized. With the minimized menu, navigation remains possible, while more space is available for important information. In tables, for example, 1 to 2 more columns can be displayed.

Operating system
Debian 11 as the new operating system allows us to continue to provide security patches. In addition, TLS 1.3 is supported and current software packages are used, which ensure greater stability and performance.
TLS 1.3 (Transport Layer Security (TLS) uses the Diffie-Hellman key exchange protocol (DHE or ECDHE). A new session key is negotiated for each connection, which enables Perfect Forward Secrecy. TLS is a standard with which data can be transmitted in encrypted form between authenticated communication partners via potentially insecure IP networks such as the Internet.

SDK (Software Development Kit) Version 2
In a later version, we will provide the Software Development Kit with numerous new functions. This will be released for all customers and partners. Every customer, partner or manufacturer can thus create or have created connections for use cases.
Partners in particular can implement various product integrations, provide them to their customers in a simple way and thus create added value.
The first new connections based on SDK 2 are already under development. Existing integrations of third-party solutions will gradually be transferred to the new SDK.
